The CIMA
distance learning syllabus offers a dynamic mix of
practical and strategic subjects designed to give you
the cutting edge in financial management.
CIMA
training will prepare students for CIMA exams means
improving your career development prospects all the
time. Upon successful completion of the Foundation exams
you will receive the CIMA Certificate in Business
Accounting and on completion of the Intermediate level
you will receive the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management
Accounting.
CIMA Training - To become a Chartered Management
Accountant (ACMA) you must complete all three levels and
gain three years of relevant practical experience.
Please note that we are introducing a new Professional
Chartered Management Accounting CIMA syllabus which will
be examined for the first time in May 2005.
The Foundation level gives a grounding in the basics of
business and financial accounting for those new to the
area. It's aim is to ensure you understand the
regulatory framework for accounting, how formal business
relationships between organisations are established and
the economic environment in which organisations operate.
Cima Foundation courses will also introduce you to the
concept of management accounting and cover quantitative
statistical analysis methods that will be used by a
Chartered Management Accountant.
If you have a relevant degree (equivalent to a UK honours
degree), in accountancy or business for instance, you may be
entitled to an exemption from the foundation level. If you are
not sure whether or not you have exemption check here -

Course Start date: 22nd March 2005
Duration: 3 months part time (2 or 3 evenings per week)
Times: Lectures start each evening at 6pm and continue
until approximately 9pm
Venue: University Cape Town (UCT)

R3000 per module (each module is 3 full days worth of training)

Intermediate Level
The Intermediate level will give you a thorough
understanding of management and financial accounting. It
will enable you to understand accounting regulations and tax
liabilities or gains that may arise through capital
transactions. You will understand how organisations operate,
their different structures, operations and business requirements
as well as how to use resources effectively and manage quality
and effective communication within organisations.
Upon completion of the Intermediate level exams you will be
awarded the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting
